"IT TAKES A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH TO GET A BRILLIANT CUT “
As someone said, we think there are no better words to describe our new location.
On November 18, 2010 Piccolo Cafe has opened its second location in New York, at 274 West 40th Street, Manhattan.
Our purpose is to bring good and fresh authentic Italian food and coffee.
Our design is abut green, reclaim and homey.
Before we stepped in, the store was a shabby, forgotten fabric store and before that an hotel. It was a gem of memories and past times, a real mix of 40th St soul at it’s best. Our current spot used to be the hotel lobby. During our renovation we discovered layers after layers of different decorations, overlapping pieces of history, well worth of being kept as part of our culture. We decided therefore to reclaim everything: an ornamented tin wall, different kind of woods that we used for our counter and in other parts of the room. The cracking wooden floor you walk on, comes instead from the deck floor of a Massachusetts pier. The wall paper on the left wall is made up of clips of Italian newspapers of the first half of 20th century, coming from a private collection. So while you wait and enjoy your coffee or have a taste of real Italian delicacies, you can retrace a little bit of history
Come and have a look for yourselves
